Today the year 7&8 extension group headed off to the GEGNZ Student Summit at Ormiston Junior College to present our projects. I was in the scratch team helping kids make their own games!, We took 2 vans for transport, when we first got there the school looked amazing! as we went through the entrance we got our lanyard and also got our own google pens!. After that we went into the auditorium, they told us about the Student Summit and the tv show producers from Young Ocean Explorers were there telling us about their amazing adventures in the ocean.

Then we headed off to our classes and did our presentation, I said my part I enjoyed speaking about how I use Scratch to learn. The Summit was a great experience.

Loofahs To Sell - Kyron

This week we have been reading about Loofahs. In the story a boy called Tau makes loofah to sell at his mums market. He is making money to buy a new T-shirt and give money to the school fundraiser.

Holiday Recount Term 3 2015

In the holidays I went to Rocket Ropes i was so excited! with my mates and we had so much fun. This is about zip lines and when I go down I'm like a fireball! I go so fast that you hit the end hard but it has paddings. And also you climb as well, as you climb it gets wobbly because it's like an obstacle course.

When we got there the demonstrator showed us how to set it up we had so much

fun the ropes are so big you have obstacle course of 3 levels they get higher and higher the gear that we used was like the rock climbers gear as we did it we started to feel like that we were going to fall off the boards of we were shaking! but it was fun though and at the last obstacle it was so high! i finished it then we headed back home and had wonderful dinner.       

Evil Dawn Of The Beasts Animation

This term we have been learning about tinkering tools and toys .

Hello and welcome to my fantastic game animation. I hope you enjoy this amazing game!   

Our task was to make a game animation so we don’t get bored at wet lunchtimes. My game is called the Evil Dawn Of The Beasts.

My hero is Exodus and he is the best hero in town. He is located in the woods of China. My hero can defeat anyone but sometimes his powers go flat. He has a sword which was made by legends back in 1920.

Exodus’ mission is to save the town from hordes of monsters and terrorists. The monsters have bins that explode so I jump over them. You must press the up key to move and attack, if you don’t you will die.

Here we go level 1 watch out there is a terrorist sword activate!  the terrorist is down that was a close one. Oh no bin bombs jump jump! Phew you made it. Oh no the is a another bad monster lets defeat him!

You have beaten all the monsters congrats the town is safe.

Holiday Recount

In my Exciting holidays! I went up north with my mum nana and uncle  my mum surprised me for the holiday.

We got there at 3.00 o'clock I saw my cousins and i was so happy!

Me and my family went to the marae and I also got to meet my other cousins and we were playing with the rugby ball and we had lunch and it was nice

Then we came back to the house and i was playing with my baby cousin then i was playing on my iPod, all night.

Also the next morning we had breakfast it was “very nice” & we went to Kfc & the town was very small!.

And also went to the park and had lunch with my cousin and feeding the ducks.

Then we had to leave after 5 days over there also we had to wake up at 4.00 o'Clock in the morning to go.

After I didn’t want to go home. It was the coolest holiday! I liked everything and I hope for next holiday that I can go back.

The Water Wardens

We have been learning about marine reserves and how to protect our fish.  I learnt that you cannot fish in marine reserves because it is protected by the government. You can't camp or by a house there either as it will get destroyed. This is a poster I have made to teach people about not feeding the fish.

Hauhake Harakeke

We have been reading about harakeke. Harakeke is the Maori word for flax. We found out that the flax has different strands. There are the tupuna (grandparents), matua (father), whaea (mother) and baby (rito). You are allowed to cut the grandparents but if you cut the baby, father or mother the flax will die.

Yr 5 & 6 Camp Recount Writing Doc

I had such a great camp! I was excited that Ajani was my tent buddy. We were so happy. Everyday we got up at 7.00 O'clock. We had divine tasting breakfast, like spaghetti, cereal, milo and toast.

My team was the True crew. We worked awesomely as a team and this was on our field at Pt England School, this was last week on Wednesday, Also at 3.30 Everyday We went to the swimming pools to have a swim and a shower after our camp team leaders were Lomio!, Presayus! , Further on our camp Teacher was “Mr Baxindine”.

My favorite activities were Kayaking and the “Kill ZoNe” The teachers call it Top Town Mr Jacobsen called it Kill ZoNe.  You put down a board and you walk on it and try to not fall off you need to get to your base as quick as possible then you throw water bombs and we did
