I’m going to tell you my thoughts on one of our classmates speech. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to see the best speakers out in the street due to me not being there at the time.

Most Appealing to you? and why?
I think Amelia's speech was the most appealing, It was about her nana that passed away. Amelia always wondered why her nana was happy at a school always cleaning toilets and classrooms , Amelia would always go and help her nana after school. It wasn't because she liked her job it was because she loved seeing her grand kids. Now Amelia knew why she was always happy.

I chose Amelia's speech because I really thought that this was touching.

Which speech was the most entertaining? Most thought provoking?.

I found that Talita's speech was the most entertaining, She gave us some tips what to do when there's a powercut with your siblings. She said their always on their phone using their data which I think is true. She gave us the fist tip to light a candle then blow it out then light it again which was weird but she said its fun so I guess its "Fun?". Oh and the next tip was to save the ice-cream she said use the candle to find the ice-cream and eat it before it melts because the fridge has no power right?.

I chose this speech because I liked her confidence but it was also very funny! she kept laughing and laughing we all enjoyed the speech so thats why I picked this speech.

3 Main states of Matter.

There are three main states of matter. Solid, liquid and gas.

Solids are objects that keep its shape. The atoms are closely packed together. 

Atoms in liquids move freely but are still close together and takes the shape of it’s container. Examples of liquids are: water and orange juice.

Atoms in gases move freely. Examples of a gas is: oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Kayaking Narrative

In a lake with a small family going kayaking on a hot sunny bright day. Their names were Jake, Jack and their dad Josh. They jumped in the car and drove off to the lake. It was called Lake Magma and this was a very famous lake.

Once they arrived they took out the kayaks and got ready the family were super excited and couldn’t wait. They jumped in the kayaks and paddled off. Half an hour later they got near a waterfall it was pouring down with water and they were close to zooming down into a rocky lake. Oh No! were about to go down! AHHHHHHHH! As they were falling screams of terror loudly were shouted they hit the water at the bottom of the waterfall. They swam for their lives! their hearts were beating fast like a cheetah they were flowing down the lake and then they all quickly grappled to the side of the grass. They jumped out and were terrified they were breathing heavily.

They changed into their clothes and jumped in the car and went back home. Jack said “WOAH” “THAT WAS AWESOME!” Their own dad was terrified the kids laughed at him “Haha” Dad felt shocked and scared Jack said “At least we had fun”.

Extension Narrative - The War.

He was pensive, confused and he was always depressed and angry. His name was Whetu and he lived in NZ. There was a lot going on and he couldn’t stop thinking of depression in his life. The year 1887 came and there was a war against the Maori and the British. He didn’t want to go but he had no choice or else he would become a prisoner.


So the day came and all the Maori tribes set off to the battle in their waka. The boat wasn’t that big so they had to squash each other and it was a long journey to the battle field. It was really challenging for the Maori because they didn't have as many weapons and supplies compared to the British. The British and Maori sides were now both trained and ready for battle. Whetu was one of the best warriors from his tribe.

Both sides were nervous. Suddenly the British troops started to charge. The Maori attacked back. Whetu ran up and charged at a soldier. He whipped out his taiaha and hit the soldier who collapsed onto the ground. The fighting got worse as the day went on. Luckily for Whetu his side were winning. The Maori warriors cleared out the British troops from the battle field.

The Maori and Whetu were so happy that the war was over. They sung and had a celebration but they were still quite sad because they had lost many men.

A passion for fashion

WALT: Understand new vocabulary from the article and use new vocab in a sentence. 

I have a pamphlet full of designs and they have arty patterns and skulls on it.

I will blend dye on a tee-shirt to make a tye-dye shirt and when you dye it looks like a galaxy.

With graffiti you can make fashion on a shirt or you can spray paint to make graffiti on walls.
